Project Overview

Cairn Cross worked as a Specialist Subcontractor to help deliver a replacement of a two-track bridge in Leeds, Yorkshire.

01.

The Challenge

To raise the roof section of the existing building, allowing the building to remain watertight during this process then reusing the beams and purlins and roof sheets that returned a cost-saving to our client and reduced this project’s carbon footprint.

02.

The Solution

Works began by excavating and preparing the existing ground for new concrete foundations. A new galvanized steel frame was erected along with purlins on the roof and sides of the building ready for cladding panels. New composite cladding panels were fitted along with trims around all the pedestrian and roller shutter door openings. The building was completed with new pedestrian fire doors, ramps with essential clamp handrails, new drainage systems, Armco crash barriers around the apron slab, a new 110v transformer electrical installation, LED lighting, fire alarm, gas heating and LEV ventilation system.
