The Challenge
The project was to replace the Todwick Bridge deck with new road construction and associated safety measures.
The Solution
To carry out the work, in-situ reinforced deck construction took place on-site to maximise efficiency. Concrete Omnia planks were placed as permanent soffit during the weekend rail possessions. Abutments were also pre-cast on site adjacent to the bridge location and lifted in by crane during rail possession times. New parapet support system tie rods encapsulated the construction deck before kerbs and drainage were installed.
The Result
A newly renovated two-way road bridge deck replacement complete with diaphragm walls and parapets.
